5 मेरे प्यारे गयुस, आप भाइयों का ध्यान रखते हैं और अजनबियों की मदद भी करते हैं। आप सच्चे विश्वासी की तरह काम करते हैं।
6 भाइयों ने चर्च के सामने इस बात का विश्वास दिलाया कि आप सभी लोगों के साथ प्यार से व्यवहार करते हैं। और अब ये भाई आपके पास आए हैं और ये अपनी यात्रा जारी रखने वाले हैं। अगर आप उन्हें उनकी ज़रूरत की हर चीज़ दे सकें तो आप सही काम करेंगे। और इस तरह से आप परमेश्वर को खुश करेंगे।
7 भाई लोगों ने यीशु के बारे में प्रचार करने के लिए अपनी यात्रा को जारी रखा। उन्होंने अन्यजाति लोगों से कोई भेंट नहीं ली।
8 हमें ऐसे भाइयों की मदद करनी है। और इस तरह से हम एक साथ काम कर सकते हैं और परमेश्वर के बारे में सच्चाई को फैला सकते हैं।
9 मैंने चर्च को एक पत्र लिखा कि इन भाइयों को मदद की ज़रूरत है। लेकिन दियुत्रिफेस जो अपने अधिकार को दिखाना पसन्द करता है हमारे साथ कुछ नहीं करना चाहता।
10 अगर मैं आ सका तो मैं उसके व्यवहार के बारे में सवाल उठाऊँगा। दियुत्रिफेस नफ़रत के साथ हमारे बारे में बोलता है और झूठ फैलाता है। और वह इस पर भी नहीं रुकता। वह उन यात्री भाइयों को अनुमति नहीं देता जिन्हें चर्च में आने के लिए मदद की ज़रूरत होती है। और जब दूसरे विश्वासी उनकी मदद करना चाहते हैं तब दियुत्रिफेस उन्हें ऐसा करने से मना करता है। और अगर वे उसकी बात नहीं मानते तो वह ऐसे लोगों को चर्च से बाहर निकाल देता है।
11 मेरे प्यारे भाई, बुराई करने वालों के उदाहरण के पीछे न चलें। लेकिन अच्छे काम करने वालों के उदाहरण के पीछे चलें। जो अच्छा काम करता है वह परमेश्वर का है। और जो बुरे काम करता है वह नहीं समझता कि परमेश्वर कौन है।
12 मैं दिमेत्रियुस के बारे में कुछ शब्द कहना चाहता हूँ। हर कोई इस बात की पुष्टि करता है कि उसकी शोहरत अच्छी है। और वह वही करता है जो सच्चाई हमें सिखाती है। हम भी इसकी पुष्टि करते हैं। और आप जानते हैं कि हम सच बता रहे हैं।

9 I wrote a letter to the church that these brothers need help. But Diotrephes who loves showing off his authority wants to do nothing with us.
10 If I am able to come, then I will raise a question about his behavior. Diotrephes speaks about us with hatred and spreads lies. And he doesn’t stop there. He does not allow visiting brothers who need help to come to church. And when other believers want to help them, Diotrephes forbids them to do it. And if they don’t listen to him, he throws such people out of the church.
11 My dear brother, do not follow the example of those who do evil. But follow the example of those who do good. A person who does good deeds belongs to God. And a person who does evil deeds does not understand who God is.
