1 मैं, पौलुस, जो परमेश्वर का सेवक और यीशु मसीह का प्रेरित भी बन गया। परमेश्वर ने मुझे उन लोगों के पास भेजा जिन्हें उसने खुद पर विश्वास करने के लिए और उस सच्चाई की भरपूरी को जानने के लिए चुना जो उन्हें पवित्र जीवन जीना सिखाएगी।
2 परमेश्वर कभी झूठ नहीं बोलता और हमेशा अपने वादों को पूरा करता है। इसलिए हमें पूरा भरोसा है कि हमें अनंत जीवन मिलेगा जिसका वादा परमेश्वर ने समय की शुरुआत से पहले और इस दुनियाँ को बनाने से पहले किया था।
3 सही समय पर मैंने प्रचार करना शुरू किया जो हमारे परमेश्वर और मुक्तिदाता ने मुझ पर अपने वचन में प्रकट किया और दूसरों के साथ बाँटने के लिए मुझे सौंपा।

6 चर्च का अगुआ बहुत अच्छी प्रतिष्ठा वाला व्यक्ति होना चाहिए। उसकी एक ही पत्नी होनी चाहिए और उसके बच्चों का विश्वास परमेश्वर पर होना चाहिए। तब कोई भी उन पर अनैतिकता या अपने माता-पिता के अधिकार के खिलाफ़ विद्रोह करने का आरोप नहीं लगा पाएगा।
7 बिशप जो चर्च की अगुवाई करता है, उसे यह समझना चाहिए कि वह परमेश्वर के घर का प्रबंधन कर रहा है। इसलिए उसे किसी भी तरह की गलती नहीं करनी चाहिए ताकि उसे अपने व्यवहार को सही ठहराने की ज़रूरत न पड़े। इस पद के लिए किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति को नियुक्त मत करना जो कठोर बातें बोलता है या घमंड से काम करता है। बिशप को गर्म स्वभाव का या शराब का आदी नहीं होना चाहिए। उसे शारीरिक हिंसा का इस्तेमाल नहीं करना चाहिए या लालची या पैसे को पहला स्थान देने वाला नहीं होना चाहिए।
8 इसके बजाय, बिशप को मेहमाननवाज़ी करने वाला होना चाहिए और दूसरों की मदद करने के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए। उसे एक बुद्धिमान और ईमानदार व्यक्ति होना चाहिए जो ईमानदारी से परमेश्वर की सेवा करता हो। उसे अपने गुस्से को काबू में करना आना चाहिए ताकि वह अपने व्यवहार पर नियंत्रण न खो दे।
9 बिशप का परमेश्वर के वचन पर मज़बूत विश्वास हमारे द्वारा प्रचार की गई शिक्षा के अनुसार स्थिर होना चाहिए। तब वह सही तरीके से सिखा पाएगा और दूसरों को उत्साहित कर पाएगा। वह उन लोगों को भी सुधार पाएगा जो सच्चाई के विरुद्ध जाते हैं।
10 बहुत से लोग सच्ची शिक्षा को मानने से इनकार करते हैं। वे दूसरों को गुमराह करने के लिए व्यर्थ की बातें करते हैं। यहूदी लोगों में से ऐसे बहुत से लोग हैं जो उद्धार के लिए खतना करवाने को ज़रूरी मानते हैं।
11 हमें ऐसे लोगों को दूसरों को सिखाने की अनुमति नहीं देनी चाहिए। वे घर-घर जाकर झूठी शिक्षाएँ फैलाते हैं जो पूरे परिवारों के विश्वास को नष्ट कर देती हैं। वे बेशर्मी से अपने फ़ायदे के लिए दूसरों को धोखा देते हैं।
12 क्रेते के एक कवि ने अपने लोगों के बारे में कहा, “क्रेते के लोग हमेशा झूठ बोलते हैं। वे जंगली जानवरों की तरह आक्रमणकारी हैं। वे ज़्यादा खाकर परेशान रहते हैं और आलस से थके हुए हैं।”
13 इस कवि ने क्रेते के लोगों के चरित्र के बारे में बिल्कुल ठीक कहा था। इसलिए उन्हें उचित रूप से सुधारें और उनके साथ पूरी सख्ती से पेश आएं ताकि वे विश्वास में मजबूत हो जाएं।
14 उन्हें कुछ यहूदी लोगों द्वारा फैलाई गई मनगढ़ंत कहानियों को सुनना बंद कर देना चाहिए। उन्हें उन यहूदी निषेधों और नियमों का पालन नहीं करना चाहिए जो सच्चाई को अस्वीकार करने वाले लोगों द्वारा बनाए गए हैं।
15 अगर परमेश्वर ने किसी व्यक्ति के दिल को शुद्ध किया है तो वह पवित्र जीवन जीने के लिए उत्सुक होगा। लेकिन जो मसीह पर विश्वास नहीं करता, वह अपने आप को अशुद्ध करता है क्योंकि वह पाप के बारे में सोचता है और अशुद्ध अंतरात्मा के साथ जीता है।
16 यहूदी लोग मसीह को अस्वीकार करते हैं, हालाँकि वे परमेश्वर को जानने का दावा करते हैं। लेकिन उनके घृणित काम उनकी बातों के अनुसार नहीं। वे परमेश्वर की आज्ञा को नहीं मानते और वे कोई भी अच्छा काम नहीं कर सकते। | 1 I, Paul, became a servant of God and also an apostle of Jesus Christ. God sent me to those whom He chose to believe in Him and to know the fullness of the truth that will teach them to live a holy life.
2 God never lies and always fulfills His promises. That is why we are confident that we will receive eternal life that God promised us before time began, and before He created this world.
3 At the right time I started preaching what our God and Savior revealed to me in His Word and entrusted to me to share with others.
4 Titus, my true son, I am writing to you, because we are united by our faith. Receive grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ who became our Savior.
5 I left you on the island of Crete to finish the work I started. I gave you the task to appoint elders to oversee the church in every city where there are believers.
6 The leader of the church must be a man of excellent reputation. He must have one wife, and his children must believe in God. Then no one can accuse them of immorality or of rebelling against their parents' authority.
7 A bishop who leads a church must understand that he is managing God’s house. That is why he must be without any fault so that he does not have to justify his behavior. Do not appoint any person who speaks harshly or acts arrogantly for this position. A bishop should not be hot-tempered or addicted to alcohol. He should not use physical violence or have a reputation for being greedy or putting money first.
8 Instead, a bishop should be hospitable and willing to help others. He should be a wise and just person who serves God faithfully. He should also be able to control his temper so that he does not lose control of his behavior.
9 A bishop must have strong faith in God’s Word according to the teaching we preach. Then he will be able to teach properly and encourage others. He will also be able to correct those who go against the truth.
10 Many people refuse to submit to true teaching. They engage in meaningless talk to mislead others. There are especially many people like this among the Jews who insist on circumcision as necessary for salvation.
11 We must not allow such people to teach others. They go from house to house and spread false teachings that destroy the faith of entire families. They shamelessly deceive others for their own benefit.
12 A poet from Crete said about his people, “The Cretans always tell lies. They are as aggressive as wild animals. They suffer from overeating and are exhausted from idleness.”
13 This poet accurately described the character of the Cretans. So correct them appropriately and treat them with all strictness so that they will become strong in faith.
14 They must stop listening to invented stories spread by some Jews. They must not follow the Jewish prohibitions and rules established by people who reject the truth.
15 If God has purified a person’s heart, he will be eager to live a holy life. But the one who does not believe in Christ defiles himself, because he thinks of sin and lives with an unclean conscience.
16 The Jews reject Christ, although they claim to know God. However their disgusting actions contradict what they say. They disobey God, and they are not able to do any good work. |
अध्याय 2 | Chapter 2 |
1 हे तीतुस, आपको दूसरे लोगों को सच्ची शिक्षा के अनुसार जीना सिखाना चाहिए।
2 बुज़ुर्ग पुरुषों को सादा जीवन जीना चाहिए और सम्मानपूर्वक व्यवहार करना चाहिए ताकि दूसरे लोग उनका आदर करें। उन्हें आत्म-संयमी होना चाहिए जो अपने व्यवहार को सँभालना जानते हों। परमेश्वर पर उनका विश्वास मज़बूत होना चाहिए, उन्हें दूसरों से प्रेम करने वाले और धीरजवंत होना चाहिए।
3 बुज़ुर्ग महिलाओं को भी अच्छी तरह से व्यवहार करना चाहिए ताकि हर कोई देख सके कि वे परमेश्वर के पवित्र लोगों में से हैं। उन्हें चुगली या झूठी निंदा नहीं फैलानी चाहिए और उन्हें शराब की लत नहीं होनी चाहिए। इसके बजाय, उन्हें दूसरों को सही काम करना सिखाना चाहिए।
4 उन्हें जवान महिलाओं को अपने-अपने पति और बच्चों से प्यार करना सिखाना चाहिए।
5 बुज़ुर्ग महिलाओं को उन्हें उनकी भावनाओं को काबू करना और अपनी पापी आदतों पर काबू पाने के लिए याद दिलाते रहना चाहिए। उन्हें अपने घरों को कैसे सँभालना है, इस बारे में सलाह देनी चाहिए। उन्हें जवान महिलाओं को अपने परिवारों के लिए दयालु होने के लिए उत्साहित करना चाहिए। उन्हें जवान पत्नियों को यह भी याद दिलाना चाहिए कि उन्हें अपने-अपने पति के अधीन रहना चाहिए। तब कोई भी यह नहीं कह पाएगा कि विश्वासियों का व्यवहार परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी बातों के अनुसार नहीं।
6 आपको जवान पुरुषों को खुद पर काबू रखना भी सिखाना चाहिए।
7 अच्छे काम करें और हमेशा सही काम करने का उदाहरण दिखाएं। वही करें जो आप दूसरों को सिखाते हैं और परमेश्वर के वचन का प्रचार करने के लिए खुद को पूरी तरह से समर्पित करें।
8 हर संभव प्रयास करें कि आप इतनी सही बात बोलें कि कोई आप पर आरोप न लगा सके या आपकी आलोचना न कर सके। तब जो लोग हमारा विरोध करते हैं वे शर्मिंदा होंगे और वे हमारे बारे में कुछ भी बुरा नहीं कह पाएंगे।
9 आपको गुलामों को भी अपने स्वामियों की आज्ञा मानना सिखाना चाहिए। गुलामों को अपने कर्तव्यों को जिम्मेदारी से निभाना चाहिए और अपने स्वामियों से बहस नहीं करनी चाहिए।
10 गुलामों को चोरी नहीं करनी चाहिए। इसके बजाय, उन्हें ईमानदारी से व्यवहार करना चाहिए ताकि उनके स्वामी उन पर पूरा भरोसा कर सकें। इस तरह से, गुलाम यह दिखा पाएंगे कि हमारे परमेश्वर और मुक्तिदाता की शिक्षाएँ कितनी बढ़िया हैं।
11 परमेश्वर ने हमें अपना अनुग्रह दिया है जो किसी को भी बचा सकता है।
12 यह अनुग्रह हमें परमेश्वर पर विश्वास करना और सही काम करना सिखाता है। यह हमें इस दुनियाँ के पापी सुखों को ठुकराने में भी मदद करता है। परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से हम इस दुनियाँ में बुद्धिमानी से व्यवहार कर सकते हैं, पवित्र जीवन जी सकते हैं और ईमानदारी से परमेश्वर की सेवा कर सकते हैं।
13 हम पूरे भरोसे के साथ उस शुभ दिन का इंतज़ार करते हैं जब हमारा महान परमेश्वर और मुक्तिदाता यीशु मसीह अपनी महिमा प्रकट करेगा।
14 मसीह ने हमें सभी पापों से आज़ाद करने के लिए अपना जीवन दिया। उसने हमें शुद्ध किया और हमें अपने खास लोग बनाया जो अच्छे काम करने की बेसब्री से इच्छा रखते हैं।
15 विश्वासियों को याद दिलाइए कि मैंने क्या लिखा है और उन्हें सही काम करने के लिए उत्साहित कीजिए। जब दूसरे लोग गलतियाँ करते हैं तब आपको उन्हें सुधारने का अधिकार भी है। किसी को भी अपने साथ अपमान भरा व्यवहार न करने दें। | 1 Titus, you should teach others to live according to the true teaching.
2 Elderly men should live soberly and behave honorably so that they can gain the respect of others. They should be self-controlled people who know how to manage their behavior. They should have strong faith in God, love others, and be patient.
3 Elderly women should also behave properly so that everyone can see that they belong to God’s holy people. They should not spread gossip or slander, and they should not be addicted to alcohol. Instead, they should teach others to do good.
4 They should teach younger women to love their husbands and children.
5 Elderly women should remind them to control their emotions and overcome their sinful habits. They should give advice on how to manage their homes. They should encourage younger women to be kind to their families. They should also remind young wives that they must submit to their husbands. Then no one will be able to say that the behavior of believers is not in accordance with what is written in God's Word.
6 You should also teach young men to control themselves.
7 Do good works and always set an example of how to do what is right. Practice what you teach others and commit yourself fully to preaching God's Word.
8 Make every effort to speak so accurately that no one can accuse or criticize you. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and will not be able to say anything bad about us.
9 You must also teach slaves to obey their masters. Slaves must do their duties responsibly and not argue with their masters.
10 Slaves must not steal. Instead, they must behave honestly so that their masters can trust them completely. In this way, slaves will be able to show how wonderful the teaching of our God and Savior is.
11 God gave us His grace which can save anyone.
12 This grace teaches us to believe in God and to do what is right. It also helps us reject the sinful pleasures of this world. By God’s grace we can behave wisely, live a holy life, and serve God faithfully in this world.
13 We look forward with full confidence to that blessed day when our great God and Savior Jesus Christ will reveal His glory.
14 Christ gave His life to set us free from all sins. He cleansed us and made us His special people who eagerly desire to do good works.
15 Remind believers of what I wrote and encourage them to do what is right. You also have the authority to correct others when they make mistakes. Do not let anyone treat you with contempt. |
अध्याय 3 | Chapter 3 |
1 विश्वासियों को सरकार के अधीन रहने और अधिकारियों की आज्ञा मानने के बारे में भी याद दिलाना। उन्हें बताना कि हमें हमेशा अच्छे काम करने के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए।
2 विश्वासियों को दूसरों का अपमान नहीं करना चाहिए। इसके बजाय, उन्हें टकराव और झगड़ों से बचना सिखाएं। उन्हें दोस्ताना होना चाहिए और सभी के साथ नम्रता और शांति से बातचीत करनी चाहिए।
3 पहले हमने बेवकूफी से काम किया और हमने परमेश्वर की आज्ञा नहीं मानी। हमने जीवन में गलत रास्ता चुना और वासना भरी इच्छाओं के और सभी प्रकार के सुखों के गुलाम बन गए। हम एक-दूसरे के लिए गुस्से और ईर्ष्या से भरे हुए थे। लोग हमसे नफ़रत करते थे और हम भी उनसे नफ़रत करते थे।
4 लेकिन हमारे परमेश्वर और मुक्तिदाता ने हमें अपना प्यार और दया दिखाई।
5 उसने हमें इसलिए नहीं बचाया क्योंकि हमने वही किया जो सही था। इसके बजाय, परमेश्वर ने हमें अपनी दया के कारण बचाया। उसने हमें हमारे पापों से धोया और हमें पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा नया जीवन दिया।
6 और हमारे मुक्तिदाता यीशु मसीह के कामों के कारण परमेश्वर ने हम पर पवित्र आत्मा को बहुतायत से उँडेला।
7 अपने अनुग्रह से परमेश्वर ने हमें पाप से आज़ाद किया और हमें अपनी धार्मिकता दी। उसने हमें आशा दी कि हम अनन्त जीवन के वारिस होंगे।

10 अगर आप के बीच में कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति है जो फूट डालता है तो उससे एक बार बात करना और फिर उसे दूसरी बार चेतावनी देना। अगर वह न सुने तो उसके साथ कोई भी संगति न करना।
11 आपको पता होना चाहिए कि ऐसा व्यक्ति सच्चाई से दूर हो गया है। वह पाप में जीता है और अपने गलत कामों से खुद पर निंदा लाता है।
12 मैं आपके पास अरतिमास या तुखिकुस को भेजने की योजना बना रहा हूँ। जब उनमें से कोई आए तो मेरे पास निकुपुलिस आने की कोशिश करना क्योंकि मैंने पूरी सर्दी वहीं बिताने का फैसला किया है।

Tell them that we should always be ready to do good deeds.
2 Believers should not insult others. Instead, teach them to avoid conflicts and quarrels. They should be friendly and communicate politely and calmly with everyone.
3 In the past we acted foolishly and disobeyed God. We chose the wrong path in life and were slaves to lustful desires and all kinds of pleasures. We were filled with anger and envy towards one another. People hated us, and we hated them.
4 But our God and Savior showed us His love and kindness.
5 He did not save us because we did what was right. Instead, God saved us because of His mercy. He washed us from our sins and gave us new life through the Holy Spirit.
6 And because of what our Savior Jesus Christ did, God poured out the Holy Spirit on us in great abundance.
7 Through His grace God set us free from sin and gave us His righteousness. He gave us the hope that we will inherit eternal life.
8 What I have written is true. I want you to preach it with full confidence. Then those who believe in God will be eager to devote themselves to good works, because everyone finds joy in helping others.
9 Avoid foolish arguments about genealogies and do not quarrel over disagreements concerning the Law of Moses. Such discussions are meaningless and bring no benefit.
10 If there is a person among you who causes division, speak to him once and then warn him a second time. If he does not listen, avoid all communication with him.
11 You should know that such a person has turned away from the truth. He lives in sin and brings condemnation on himself through his wrong actions.
12 I plan to send Artemas or Tychicus to you. When one of them arrives, try to come to me in Nicopolis, because I have decided to spend the entire winter there.
13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos prepare for their trip. Make sure that they lack nothing.
14 Our believers should also learn to do good deeds and help those in need to provide them with all necessary provisions. In this way, they will not live their lives in vain.
